Welcome to the family, Potter!
We have adopted a second boxer to play with Callie. My very good, childhood friend, Rachel, who is a vet, saw that he was available and kept him for me until I could get him. Sadly, he had a bit of an accident the night before he was to travel down to my side of TX (he was in Dallas). He escaped from the house during a party, and fell asleep under a car. The driver didn't notice him, and his paw was inadvertantly run over. Thankfully, Rachel is an ER Vet, so Potter was rushed into surgery, and is doing fine. It was only a broken toe. He's got tons of meds, sutures and a cone of shame, but he's happy and doing well.
When he came to the house yesterday, Callie was ready to play with him, and he wanted to play with her, but his paw is healing, and we need to limit his mobility. Playing will need to wait until the sutures are removed and the cone of shame is no more (though they try to do as much playing as they can). They do enjoy licking each others faces, and Callie tries to lick Potter's paw, but the paw is on Licking Lockdown (it can't be licked, hence the cone of shame).
Many thanks to Rachel for all the work that went into procurring Potter, and meeting me halfway with Potter. Many thanks to Morgan for riding with me to Hillsboro and back. Many thanks to Martin who was supposed to get Potter before all the plans changed. Many thanks to Scott and Callie for taking care of him while I'm at work and being such a welcoming family.
