On September 27th, our friend, Henrique, was ordained a priest. He and his wife, Ivy are from Brazil. They are very funny and very nice. Henrique asked Scott, Hannah and I to do the music for his ordination (Hannah is the one playing the violin). We were thrilled to help. It was an awesome service, and the Holy Spirit was present in a powerful way. After we sang one hymn, Bishop John just started proclaiming how wonderful God is, and got others to join in calling out the names of God. I love it when the Spirit moves!
In the ordination service, the new priest is presented with a bible. Henrique's Bible was on its way from Brazil, so instead we presented he and Ivy with journals. The candle in the middle represents their family and friends in Brazil who were unable to attend the ceremony.
This is actually a picture taken during the rehearsal, but during the service, the ordinand must lie face down to show full submission to the Lord and the weight of the vow being taken.
Here's a cute pic of Scott and I. Funny though, because it was taken on a Saturday night, and the following Monday, my hair became red, and Scott's beard went back to simply being a gotee.
